5 Pop Punk Bands

You Totally Forgot About

It Was Never a Phase

Let's talk about pop punk. Again.

If you can't tell, I'm still obsessed with this genre of music. Today, we're going to talk about five pop punk bands that you probably forgot all about. I can tell you I haven't, and still listen to these bands today. But no judgements, because I have an unhealthy obsession with teen angst.

#5 Forever the Sickest Kids

I discovered Forever the Sickest Kids at my friend's house in college around 2008. I remember him blasting it from his iMac computer in the living room and I fell in love with their sound.

Their first full-length album, Underdog Alma Mater is full of hits like Whoah, Oh! Hey Brittany and She's a Lady. Believe it or not, this is one of those albums where I can listen to the entire thing, straight through and really enjoy the music.

They released a few more albums with another solid one titled Forever the Sickest Kids.

#4 Hey Monday

Doesn't it look like everyone in Hey Monday has the same haircut? Pop punk is cool like that. It's totally acceptable!

Hey Monday released one full-length album, Hold on Tight, in 2008. Cassadee Pope sounds great as their lead singer and she actually competed on and won season three of the tv show The Voice.

Some of their songs include How You Love me Now, Homecoming and the ballad Candles.

#3 We The Kings

For as much as I like the bands on this list, I like We The Kings the least. I actually dislike them, they annoy me. I don't know why and there's likely not a good reason, but they're annoying.

Personal feelings aside, their self-titled debut album brought us the the smash hit Check Yes, Juliet. This song is still popular and has over 221 Million listens on Spotify. From the same album, Skyway Avenue is a catchy song.

They also recorded the song, Where I Belong, with fellow pop punk bands Simple Plan and State Champs.

#2 Mayday Parade

The song Jamie All Over is an incredible song by this band. Mayday Parade's 2007 album A Lesson in Romantics is one of my favorite pop punk albums. In addition to Jamie All Over, check out; Jersey and If You Wanted a Song Written About You, All You Had to do was Ask.

They've been pumping out songs since 2007 and have had a few personnel changes in the band. Their 2021 album What It Means to Fall Apart has some catchy tunes on it like Kids of Summer and Golden Days.

#1 Something Corporate

These guys are my favorite band on the list. Something Corporate only released two full-length albums, but they are pop punk gold. Leaving Through The Window (2002) and North (2003) still get plenty of air time at my house.

As a fellow piano player, I have a lot of respect for lead singer and pianist Andrew McMahon as he works lots of piano parts into the driving power chords throughout the music.

Some of my favorite songs are Hurricane, Punk Rock Princess, I Woke Up in a Car, Konstantine and Ruthless
