Childhood at McDonalds
When I was a kid, my grandparents would come to my house every Wednesday while my mom went to grad school at night. I had no idea what she was studying, nor did I really care. All I knew was that I was about to get a new toy and jump in a ball pit.
A Free Amusement Park
Those Wednesday nights were always special. My grandparents (born in the early 1920s) would pick me up and drive me about 30 minutes to a special McDonalds-the one with the best playplace.
They'd get me a Happy Meal and a Sundae and let me loose in the playplace until the sun went down. They were in no hurry to take me home, just generally enjoyed seeing me happy.
I'd meet and hang out with kids who were complete strangers but within 10 minutes, we'd be old friends. This was truly a great time to be alive.
For some of you who may not know, the playplace at McDonalds usually contained the following: slides, swings, ball pits, jungle gyms and tunnels to crawl through. Reply to this email with your favorite playplace memory!
Halloween Time
Every year, McDonalds would give you with Halloween-themed toys for most of October. If you're an American Millennial, you likely remember something that looks like these candy buckets.
I VIVIDLY remember getting these with my grandparents on our McDonalds trips. Heck, I may have had all of these buckets at one point in time. I knew that in a few short weeks, I'd be walking around my neighborhood in my costume, collecting candy with my McDonald's ghost bucket.
