Was This Even Food?
What Were We Eating?
Weird Millennial Foods
Growing up in the 90s, we put some weird things in our body. Some of the things that our parents fed us as kids are no longer on the shelves when I go grocery shopping with my family. Maybe this is because that shit wasn't actually food.
Regardless if this crap took a few years off of our lives, this week we are going to revisit some of the things that we enjoyed eating and drinking as kids
In no particular order...
Squeezeit
Nothing like giving kids sugar water and then yelling at them for bouncing off the walls. One of these bad boys contained 24 grams of sugar. But my goodness, they were good. I could crush the entire six pack if no one was watching.
Remember the feeling of ripping the tops off of these? It was like a twist/pull combo and then you could crush the whole thing in your hand as you drained all of the "juice" from it.
Pokemon Waffles
So Pokemon everything was huge when we were kids. The box here says "waffle" but isn't the center more of a pancake? If I had to name this thing, I'd call it a "waffle cake."
The Pokemon Company could have sold almost anything and people would have bought it. This came out at the time of the Gold and Silver games, as you can see by the Gen 2 Pokemon on there.
Seriously, I used to nerd out for Pokemon, I still might a little...
EZ Squirt
Seriously, WTF is this?
These came out in July 2000 so that kids could paint their hot dogs? Who does that and who at Heinz thought this was a good idea? I don't know about you, but I don't want purple and green shit all over my food. Did you actually eat this?!
Heinz discontinued production of EZ Squirt in 2006, as the "novelty" of this condiment wore off.
Summary
What did I miss? I feel there's lots of other weird foods that we ate as kids that society in 2022 would laugh at and not allow on shelves. Tweet at me (link at bottom) and tell me what I missed!
As always, the struggle is real, but you got this!
Name That Pop Punk Tune
This is a brand new section and I'm not quite sure if it will work, but what the hell?!
You'll find my poor attempt at performing a vocal cover of a small section of a pop punk song. It may be a classic or a new song from an artist you've never heard of.
This week's song is from a new band, you may never have heard of. They're up-and-comers and you need to check them out.
